Multi-brand retail store: cart, checkout and orders

An online store in more than one language for a European retailer selling international brands across five product categories, with cart, checkout and order handling built from scratch.

Retail ecommerce · Europe

the challenge

A European retailer with physical shops also sells online. It stocks international brands in jewellery, watches, tableware, kitchenware and home fragrance, and the site runs in more than one language. With category-wide discounts and gift cards on top, the cart and checkout had to calculate totals correctly every time, and each order had to reach the back office exactly as the customer placed it.

what we built

Our founder built about 90% of the site as main developer, including the store pages and the cart, checkout and order handling behind them.

  • Category and product pages for very different products, from watches to kitchenware
  • Sale prices shown next to the original price, and percentage discounts across whole categories
  • Gift cards that work with the same cart and checkout rules
  • Multi-language content across the storefront
  • Cart, checkout and the order process that turns a paid basket into an order the shop can pack and send

the result

The store is live and taking orders across all of its categories. A lot of how we build carts and order handling today comes from this project.

Built by Shivarva's founder as main developer while working at a previous agency, before Shivarva was started. We include it because it is the same kind of work we do now.
